strong, resilient and cool
Nothing is more cooler than a house with a floor made up of splitted bamboo with small gaps and spaces letting the air to pass through. Kawayang sahig or bamboo floor is a common among Filipino peasants houses and resort cottages. Our early house way back 1979, has a bamboo floor according to my father. Indeed Bamboo trees has an array of uses in the Filipino people. Here in this picture is my nephew Jamal, enjoying the unfinished cottage house with fresh bamboo flooring.
